Stop worrying what other people think?
Not only is it not easy but should we?
Well, yes and no.
Just like I didn’t really care what this North Korean soldier (guy peering through the window at me) thought…I believed in what I was doing…but if I didn’t believe in what I was doing and didn’t have confidence in my skills…then I would worry at a whole other level…it would make me ineffective.
This applies to us in building our home based business. We are going against “what everyone else” is doing. So we will meet some natural resistance. So don’t be shocked if someone doesn’t jump up and down about what you are doing.
I’ve never met anyone who didn’t want to be liked, appreciated, and thought well of by others.
Some folks like to puff their egos up and say. “I don’t care what others think!” – They are usually the most insecure…and they usually care the most!
Now there is a time when you SHOULD care what people think…and then there is a time when you should NOT care.
The gap between these two extremes is where many dreams die. For others it is where they cross the bridge to the success they only dreamed of accomplishing.
The gap between is YOU believing in what you are doing.
When to care: When your lack of skills is causing people to run from you. Like you talk too much…you are always pitching…you don’t really know what you are talking about….all of these lead to lack of confidence. They make you shaky.
Willingness to look bad to ultimately look good!
Get a little rejection…the old cold bucket of water thrown on your dreams…
Have a couple of those experiences and you start to think, “Man this must not be good”…and you slow down or stop all together. You let your worry about “looking bad” kill your dreams.
What to do instead. Gain confidence…I know easier said than done.
Then your solution is to get skills so that you become confident and you never put yourself if those awkward positions again. Only way to gain confidence is allowing yourself to grow by doing. Make mistakes and keep learning. Don’t repeat mistakes over and over again.
In the military, you make mistakes and you adjust fire immediately. You have to think on your feet and not repeat the same mistakes again. This is what all great leaders and organizations do.
Other interesting part of this is…
No one really cares anyways
People are mostly too busy with their own lives to spend time worrying about you and what your are doing.
What I Did To Stop Worrying and Start Living
I had to learn how to stop worrying about others opinions.
When I first started my home based business…I was just playing around. I didn’t go big and it cost me time and money…was it my business model? My product? The economy? Nope.

Great post!
I love the analogy. It’s amazing how much one can allow themselves to quit on their dreams because of other people’s opinion. Thanks for the tip Steve. Looking forward to the one-second rule.
